Wiping an #iPad through Exchange Online in Office 365
Essa é uma função sensasional do Office 365!
Great it works ;-(
I just wanted to check if I would be able to wipe an iPad which is connected to Exchange Online 2010, which is part of Office 365. However this gave the effect that indeed my iPad was wiped (which was to be expected of course) and I actually had to reconfigure my device.
Either end users or administrators can wipe a device. An end user opens up the OutlookWebApp and selects Phone from the menu. If the account is synchronized with an iPad it should show up in the list of phones.
By selecting the iPad (make sure the right one is selected!) and clicking Wipe Device the iPad is wiped.
Please note everything is deleted from the iPad, not only the users mail, but also all installed apps and other settings.
As soon as the device is wiped an email is send the remote device wiped has completed successfully.
Please note the red text. Before setting up another connection to Outlook the iPad must first be removed from the list by deleting it. If this is forgotten the device will be wiped again.
So why is this important to know?
Although iPad can be given a 4 digit passcode before signing in, it is pretty simple to get into the iPad. Next to this many users tend to use a simple passcode like 0000. So much for security. If your iPad is connected to Exchange Online (or another service which caches your credentials for that matter) everyone who picks up (or steals) an iPad has access to all information in the device. With this option you are able to make sure the entire device is wiped, deleting all information from the device as soon as a synchronization is done.
